Deep Cleanings
A deep dental cleaning, also known as scaling and root planing, is a specialized treatment designed to remove plaque and tartar that build up below the gumline.
Unlike a regular cleaning, this procedure targets areas affected by gum disease to reduce inflammation, stop infection, and help the gums reattach to the teeth. By thoroughly cleaning the roots and smoothing their surfaces, a deep cleaning helps prevent bone loss, improves gum health, and supports a stronger, healthier smile.
It is often recommended for patients experiencing bleeding gums, periodontal pockets, or early signs of gum disease.
When gum disease is more advanced and the pockets are too deep to clean with closed methods, an open deep cleaning may be necessary. This involves gently lifting the gums to access deeper areas, thoroughly removing bacteria, reshaping the roots if needed, and if its needed make a bone graft before repositioning the gum tissue.
Gingivectomy
A gingivectomy is a dental procedure that involves removing a small portion of gum tissue to improve oral health or enhance the appearance of the smile. It is commonly performed to treat gum disease when excess or infected tissue needs to be eliminated to allow put crown better cleaning and healing.
A gingivectomy can also be used for cosmetic purposes, such as reducing a “gummy smile” or reshaping uneven gum lines to create a more balanced appearance.
By precisely removing and reshaping the gums, this procedure helps reduce pocket depth, improve gum contour, and support a healthier, cleaner, and more attractive smile.
Frenectomy
A frenectomy is a minor dental procedure that involves removing or adjusting the frenum, the small band of tissue that connects the lips, cheeks, or tongue to the gums.
When the frenum is too tight or positioned too close to the teeth, it can cause problems such as gum recession, gaps between the front teeth, difficulty speaking, or limited tongue movement.
A dental frenectomy gently releases this tissue to improve function, reduce tension on the gums, and promote healthier oral development. The procedure is quick, performed under local anesthesia, and provides long-term benefits for both oral health and comfort.
